Thomas has taken unusual steps in calling attention to crime victims as the Supreme Court rules in two death-penalty cases. In one case, Thomas dissented from a 5-4 opinion that barred Louisiana from executing Kevan Brumfield, a convicted killer who is mentally disabled. Thomas included a picture of the crime victim at the end of his dissent and even referred to a video of the killer s confession that was posted on the Supreme Court s web site.
