Alan (61) hørte dårlig – fikk dødshjelp

CANADA: Alan Nichols (61) var deprimert og suicidal da han ble lagt inn på sykehus. En måned senere søkte han om aktiv dødshjelp, og fikk det. – Han ble drept, sier broren.

I juni 2019 ba 61 år gamle Alan Nichols broren sin Gary Nichols om å «slå ham ut» så snart som mulig. Han hadde havnet på sykehus etter at familien fryktet for at han skulle avslutte sitt eget liv.

61-åringen hadde en forhistorie med depresjon og flere andre ikke-livstruende helseproblemer, og valgte etter kort tid å be om å få avslutte livet. Nichols mistet hørselen etter en hjerneoperasjon i en alder av 12, og fikk også flere hjerneslag de siste årene av livet sitt.

– Han trengte litt hjelp fra oss, men han var ikke så funksjonshemmet at han kvalifiserte til eutanasi, sier Gary Nichols til nyhetsbyrået AP.
